DL Group research Messaging Administrator for one of its customers based in Geneva.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide on-going operational support for both in-house and outsourced SMTP relay services. Migrate from Sendmail to Postfix.
Interface with customer’s Exchange and Domino team, technical auditors, customer first level support teams and other customer and customer teams.
The duties required include:
- Installation and configuration of Linux servers using an automated deployment process.
- Installation and configuration of standard tools for backup, monitoring and administration. (apache, awstats)
- Administration of various dedicated services and infrastructure services running SMTP Email relays (using Postfix, Sendmail, Sendmail switch), List Servers, Anti-spam and Anti-virus systems.
- Implementing and maintaining bespoke policies, whitelists and blacklists for various domains.
- Troubleshooting any application or connectivity issues and providing user support on the email relay.
- Document monitoring and maintenance procedures.
- Plan and deliver the migration of customer SMTP relays from Sendmail Switch to open source Postfix
- Support, maintain and optimize the SMTP relay infrastructure. Perform day-to-day housekeeping activities on the SMTP relay infrastructure
- Deliver documented procedures to integrate new mail domains with the SMTP relay service
- Collaborate with other teams to implement service and system monitoring and alerting
- Collaborate with other teams to define and develop documented procedures, and to provide extended support hours for customers in Europe and America
- Performing additional duties as required
Experience
- At least 4+ years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of Linux environments.
- Good experience in administration of mail relays and technologies like Postfix, Sendmail, Anti-Spam and Anti-virus for email.
- Good scripting skills and ability to develop tools for automation using Perl/ Shell.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills a must. Practical experience with interactive systems advanced understanding of Email, DNS and other internet technologies.
- Knowledge of Service Level Management Principles.
- The consultant may be requested to provide ‘stand-by’ services during weekends, holidays and outside of the normal working hours.
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture and networking (TCP/IP, etc.);
- Excellent team worker and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of Service Level Management Principles. ITIL qualification at foundation level is highly desirable
